Net-A-Porter will launch a new section on its site dedicated to "demi-fine" jewellery this week to capitalise on the trend for accessible luxury in the jewellery space.

Expected to launch this Wednesday, the section will initially include five jewellery Catbird NYC, Sarah & Sebastian, Wwake, Saskia Diez, and I and I, according to WWD.

Net-A-Porter fashion retail director Lisa Aiken told the publication that the category is important as it combined both the fashion and jewellery sectors and the etailer was seeing  “a notable increase in women investing in luxury jewellery for themselves”.

Just as in the fashion space, accessible luxury in jewellery is an expanding sector. Over the weekend British jeweller Monica Vinader who specialises in accessibly priced stackable bracelets and rings, revealed its sales had increased by a third in the year to July 2016. In addition London department store Fenwick recently unveiled an overhauled jewellery department offering brands such as Hall Collection which specialises in "mix and match" and collectibles.

Yoox Net-A-Porter CEO Federico Marchetti revealed that jewellery would be a key growth category for the business when he revealed his five-year strategy in July this year.
