“I’m bowled over that Shopcade won,” proudly explains Industry member, Nathalie Gaveau after her London company scooped the ‘Coolest App in Europe’ award at the prestigious GP Bullhound Summit and the 2014 Media Momentum Awards in Paris.
Operating like a ‘shop-able’ Instagram, Shopcade has been taking the celebrity and blogging world by storm, garnering serious respect from the fashion arena after it signed a range of retailers to its books: from high street giants such as Topshop, ASOS and Urban Outfitters to new cutting-edge labels and more polished luxury players like Liberty, MR PORTER and Saks Fifth Avenue.
However, while the app is powered by trends it’s far from just another s-commerce fad. As the world’s largest social shopping app, it houses over 850,000 active consumers and it’s growing by the minute. “The Summit and Media Momentum Awards are a celebration of Europe’s top technology companies and it was a true honour to be bestowed such a prize back where it all started, in Paris,” adds the member, who founded her first company, PriceMinister.com in France before moving to London to start Shopcade in 2011.
Giving extra gravitas to the ‘Coolest App in Europe’ award is Shopcade’s ‘Style Battle’, a monthly competition that challenges its users to upload their best looks with a view to win a photo shoot in leading independent fashion and culture magazine, WEARECOLLISION magazine. The finalists are judged by a team of fashion insiders. For the inaugural judging panel Nathalie looked upon her fellow Industry members, including The Industry’s celebrity stylist (and advisor) Rebekah Roy, fashion photographer (also our official photographer) Sam Atkinson and brand strategist, Nik Thakkar.
