Mulberry gears up for growth in John Lewis

Luxury British brand Mulberry is set to up its presence in John Lewis stores this summer by doubling its premium handbag and leather goods options.

The news follows the launch of a concession in the John Lewis Kingston branch yesterday, with plans afoot to open further concessions in Nottingham, Birmingham and Aberdeen in early May.

In the coming months the department store will also be dedicating more shop floor space to its Mulberry offering in its Oxford Street flagship store.

In addition, new categories have been added, with a womenswear ready-to-wear offer and women’s footwear available online only, as well as sunglasses in selected stores and online.

The move comes in the wake of Mulberry taking a substantial hit of £2.4m when House of Fraser collapsed into administration in August 2018. At the time the British luxury house operated 21 House of Fraser concessions.

Earlier this week Mulberry announced that it had become a partner brand of Farfetch to increase its international presence.
