M&S Menswear Director 'delighted' to join UKFT board
M&S Menswear Director Mitch Hughes has today joined the board of the UK Fashion and Textile Association.
"Appointing Mitch to the UKFT board reflects our growing membership in retail, and he brings deep sector expertise, a strong commercial perspective and a clear focus on customer-led product development," said Adam Mansell, CEO of UKFT.
Hughes is currently the Director of M&S Man, and looks back on almost 30 years’ experience across UK fashion retail.
Prior to rejoining M&S (he started his career at the retailer as part of its graduate programme in 1997), he was Managing Director at Boohoo Group, where he oversaw the then newly acquired Dorothy Perkins, Burton and Wallis brands, and spent over five years at Arcadia, latterly as Managing Director of Topman/Topshop.
Hughes has also held senior roles at Matalan, where he spent ten years moving from buying to Trading Director across Fashion and Home.
Hughes said: "I’ve spent my entire career in fashion retail – from those early days as an M&S grad nearly 30 years ago right through to leading M&S Man today – and I owe the industry a lot. So, naturally I am delighted to be joining the UKFT board and have the opportunity to share my experience and champion the future of our industry."
Speaking to TheIndustry.fashion last month, Hughes went into detail about his plans for the retailer's menswear division, following the unveiling of a “multi-year partnership” to dress the Atlassian Williams Formula 1 Racing Team, the rapid growth of its Autograph line, and new star-backed campaigns.
