Marks & Spencer has launched its second rental collection with Hirestreet, marking the biggest ever retailer collaboration for the UK’s leading accessible fashion rental platform.

The collection is made up of 40 new season womenswear pieces from M&S’s in-house brands, Autograph and Per Una, as well as M&S Collection for the first time. It lands on Hirestreet just in time for Easter, with products available to rent for four days from £10.

First launched in November 2021, the spring/summer collection follows the success of the autumn/winter offering, where 98% of customers indicated they would rent M&S clothing again from the platform.

Additionally, 95% of Hirestreet customers said they were impressed with the quality of M&S’s products, and nearly 90% said they would look to purchase from M&S in the near future.

To date, M&S has proved to be the most popular brand for a ‘bundle’, with a quarter of all bundle rental orders on Hirestreet containing an M&S product.

The ongoing partnership with Hirestreet supports M&S’s commitment to drive the circular economy, and is part of its Plan A target to become a Scope 3 net zero business by 2040.

Richard Price, MD of Clothing & Home at M&S, said: “At M&S our focus is ensuring our product is more relevant, more often for our customers' lives – that’s not just what we offer, but how. We know customers are increasingly interested in the circular economy and rental, which is why we started our exciting partnership with Hirestreet last year.

“The feedback so far has been great, with Hirestreet users discovering the everyday style and value of our clothing on the platform. We’re continuing to test and learn this spring/summer with a new collection which is perfect for a range of occasions, including the holidays and special events we know consumers are really looking forward to.”

Rosie Hartman, Strategy Lead at Hirestreet, commented: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with M&S, with the launch of the spring collection making this our largest ever retailer collaboration. With a reputation for stylish and quality clothing, M&S items have proved popular from the moment they launched on Hirestreet.

“Clothing rental is often associated with special occasions, but the popularity of M&S clothes, many of which are versatile for any occasion, demonstrates how the future of fashion rental is changing, as today rental fashion is more than just providing temporary access to designer items.”

Shoppers can continue to rent best-selling styles from the first collection drop, including the M&S X Ghost satin midi wrap dress which has proved to be the most popular item for M&S on Hirestreet, having been rented over 30 times.

The spring/summer offer also features new product categories including trousers and jackets, such as a cotton rich belted utility jacket which retails for £55 and is available to rent from £11.
