MR PORTER partners with Movember raising funds for mental health
MR PORTER is partnering with Movember on Ahead of the Game (MAOTG) for the fifth year of Health In Mind - the retailer's fundraising initiative.
Movember's Ahead of the Game is the charity's youth mental health programme that is "changing the face of men’s health".
With the support of MR PORTER Health in Mind Fund, the men’s health charity will deliver 500 workshops to 10,000 young men in hard-to-reach communities.
The face-to-face workshops, which were trialled in Canada, will be delivered in grassroots football clubs across London, targeting those areas most in need of mental health intervention strategies.
This directly aligns with MR PORTER Health In Mind’s goal to prompt and normalise meaningful conversations on mental health. Donations raised over the past five years, since the inception of the fund, will help facilitate this initiative.
Alice Casely-Hayford, Content Director at MR PORTER, said: "We’re delighted to be celebrating the fifth anniversary of MR PORTER Health in Mind by announcing MR PORTER as an official partner of Movember’s Ahead of the Game.
"Thanks to the funds raised by our loyal readers and customers, we aim to support the facilitation of 500 mental health workshops. The training and interventions provided to these young athletes are invaluable and we are thrilled to continue shining a light on the specific issues that face the modern man while supporting Movember who are doing the expert work and research in the men’s health space."
Paul Williams, Director at Young Men's Health Implementation Europe, said: "Through our partnership with MR PORTER Health In Mind, we’re delivering genuine change, highlighting the positive impact grassroots sport plays in communities, and improving the mental health of a generation.
"Sport has always been a massive part of Movember and its approach to reaching young men by normalising conversations and breaking down the stigma around mental health. We know sport is so important in helping people get together, do what they love and feel better for it. And by working together with MR PORTER we’ll continue to support young men, coaches and parents through the programme."
