Mother of Pearl designs London Fashion Week Festival tote

Luxury womenswear brand and winner of the Vogue/BFC Fashion Fund 2017, Mother of Pearl, has been commissioned to design the official tote bag of the London Fashion Week Festival.

The bag, which takes its inspiration from Dutch florals and the use of darkness and light in the paintings of artists such as Caravaggio and Jan Van Huysum, will be sold in a limited edition at the consumer-facing fashion festival, which takes place after London Fashion Week from 21-24 September. It will also be offered free of charge to purchasers of Silver, Gold and LUXE ticket packages for the event.

Mother of Pearl, which also been awarded the Walpole Emerging British Luxury Talent prize, was founded in 2002 by Maia Norman while creative director Amy Powney joined in 2006. It first showed at London Fashion Week for AW14. The brand's mantra is "serious fashion, not to be worn too seriously" and its collections focus on on print, sportswear inspired detailing (hence the striped handles of the tote bag) and luxe fabrications.

“Mother of Pearl’s beautiful designs perfectly capture British creativity and the energy of London Fashion Week Festival. It has been great to work with Amy on the tote bags for this season and I look forward to seeing them being used all over London and further afield,” said British Fashion Council CEO Caroline Rush CBE.

London Fashion Week Festival features curated shopping galleries from more than 150 international and British brands including Alfie Douglas, French Sole, Jamie Wei Huang, Jane Carr, Linda Farrow, Paper London, Tada & Toy and Taylor Morris and AW17 catwalk shows from London Fashion Week designers.

The event takes place at the home of London Fashion Week at The Store Studios, 180 Strand and tickets are now available on its website.
