Moss Bros temporarily stops online trading

Menswear retailer Moss Bros today announced that it will cease trading online for the time being, as a safety precaution for its staff working in its warehouses.

In a statement on Moss Bros website, the retailer said it has stopped processing warehouse orders, and will not be accepting any further orders at this time.

Moss Bros continued to operate online over the weekend, following the closure of its 128 UK stores last week, with ”full safety and hygiene measures in place".

The statement continued "Like all of you, we’re striving to do the right thing as the situation changes rapidly around us. The coming days and weeks will be tough for all of us, but we must all act to help limit the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

"The health and well-being of our customers and colleagues is our number one priority. With that in mind, we made the difficult decision to close our stores across the UK and Ireland until further notice.

"We’ve also made the difficult decision to stop taking orders online until further notice so that our warehouse teams and delivery partners can follow the appropriate advice.

Yesterday, Moss Bros Group issued a statement, summarising the potential impact of COVID-19 on the business.

"The Group recognises that COVID-19 could result in a sharper decline in trading performance if mass gatherings (such as Ascot) are voluntarily cancelled or prohibited.

"The Group expects that the effects of COVID-19 will result in a significant reduction in revenue and profitability for the year ending 30 January 2021, however it is too early to determine the precise quantum at this stage. Prior to 13 March 2020 the Group had been trading as expected."
