Mobile orders surge to all time high at YNAP during Cyber Weekend

Online luxury group Yoox Net-A-Porter (YNAP) said orders via mobile devices surged to an all time high during Cyber Weekend. On Sunday mobile orders peaked at 66% of all sales, which is a record for the business.

The group said it had also witnessed strong growth in customers making their first orders via its apps, with the YOOX iOS app trending in Italy and ranked at number one in the "Shop until you Drop" section of the App store.

As YNAP predicted last week, sales of "hard luxury" items and self-gifting performed strongly. The highest priced item sold on NET-A-PORTER was a diamond bracelet for £38,000. Earrings sold particularly well over the weekend, including a single diamond ear cuff, priced at £20,000.

Hard luxury performed well in the US, where the business has just launched its fine jewellery offer, while female customers focused on the upcoming party season with evening wear sales continuing to rise, including two gowns priced at £9,000 apiece.

In menswear leather jackets, winter coats and blazers proved popular at MR PORTER with tuxedos performing strongly in the US in particular. Fine watches also performed well.

At their peak sales on YNAP sites reached one every 0.8 seconds on Black Friday.
