Mini skirts, bootcut jeans and jorts among 2025's biggest trends

The return of the mini skirt, ignited by Gucci’s SS25 catwalk show and singer Sabrina Carpenter’s outfits on her ‘Short n’ Sweet’ world tour, has seen searches on resale marketplace Depop surge 63% in the last three months.

According to Depop’s ‘2025 Trends Report’, denim will also play a huge role in spring trends this year, with rapper Kendrick Lamar’s half-time Super Bowl performance in Hedi Slimane-designed Celine jeans causing a spike in searches for bootcut jeans of 146%.

Jorts (jean shorts) also continue to dominate, with searches for men’s jorts currently up by 3.2K on Depop and, also on the denim front, denim jackets have seen a 56% boost in searches on the platform, while skinny jeans are back on the scene with searches up 106% in the last three months.

Further big trends include micro shorts, with searches up 162% since last October, and rugby shirts have also branched out from the pitch to become a streetwear staple across men’s and womenswear. Loewe rugby shirts were seen on Rihanna and Hailey Bieber, leading to searches up 306% on Depop in the last three months.

The ‘Sabrina Carpenter effect’ has also influenced searches for babydoll dresses – up 90% in the last three months, and ‘pastel’ searches up 88%.

On the footwear front, low fi trainers such as Adidas ‘Japan’ and Adidas ‘Taekwondo’ are seeing search increases, while boxing boot/sneaker hybrid styles also proving popular with searches up 40%.

In particular, Loewe and Stella McCartney's SS25 collections have led to a 40% increase in searches for boxing inspired footwear on Depop since the start of this year.

Likewise, football boot-inspired sneakers have also seen an 82% rise in the last three months, with Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma ‘Avanti’ silhouette leading the charge.

In other footwear trends, sandal season has clearly begun with searches up 204%. Flip-flops and thong sandals are gaining momentum, helped by searches for Havaianas’ ‘Brazil’.
Miu Miu and The Row also featured thong sandals in their SS25 collections, with searches up 178% in the last three months.

Elsewhere, retro sportswear continues to rise in popularity, with searches for apparel from brands including Fila and Adidas jumping 71% and 61% respectively.
