With 30 years of history catering to London’s trendiest postcodes, rebel jewellery brand Metal Morphosis is set to return to its Soho roots and open the doors to its newest piercing studio and jewellery store on Carnaby Street.

Opening to the public in September, the new store is an example of how independent brands are bouncing back after the impact of COVID-19.

Located in one of London’s most popular and famed destinations, the Carnaby studio will channel the authentic and defiant spirit of Soho. The brand, previously housed in Topshop’s flagship store on Oxford Street, has gone from strength to strength, striking out on its own to represent the best of the British high street.

Brand owner, Ben Harris, commented: “Keeping the high street alive is important to us and we want to see more independent brands offering incredible service, a community atmosphere and sustainable products. We’re always doing our best to offer London all of this and to inspire other brands to keep pushing.”

Grown from a 1990's piercing shop in Soho, Metal Morphosis pioneers style, safety and self expression and has gained a cult following thanks to its inclusive, education-first approach.

From launching the first ever piercing school in 1992 to placing concessions in the likes of Topshop and Selfridges, Metal Morphosis champions diversity, cutting-edge style and doing things differently.

Harris continued: “We’re proud of our British roots, of our Soho heritage. We took something leftfield and brought it into the mainstream, so it’s up to us to continue that work by setting the standard. We’re so excited to open up the new studio, it feels like coming home.”

The brand has never shied away from the big issues and is proud to serve a loyal customer base of LGBTQ+ people in the Soho area and beyond. Partnering with Stonewall Housing, Metal Morphosis has previously donated proceeds from products and in-store tattoo and piercing events to the LGBTQ+ homelessness charity.

Services Manager, Saoirse Flynn said: “We have experienced homelessness and hardship first hand here at Metal Morphosis as LGBTQIA+ people and the struggle of trying to find your place in a world that feels like there’s no space for you. We also know that these hardships are experienced to an even greater extent by LGBTQIA+ people of colour and those with disabilities.

“This is why we feel supporting charities such as Stonewall Housing, and ensuring that we as a business create a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ people is imperative in creating a future where we can all live free from fear.”

Metal Morphosis is also dedicated to operating across fair supply chains and embracing equality, safety and sustainability. Every piece of jewellery is crafted responsibly using high-quality surgical steel and approved by experts.
