Meadowhall signs up more fashion brands following revamp

Whistles, Lacoste, The North Face and expanding menswear brand Skopes have all signed up to take new stores in Sheffield's supermall Meadowhall, as the centre reports a significant increase in website traffic for brands opening there.

The signings come on the back of a £60m refurbishment of the mall and the new names join a 30-strong list of brands to have taken space in the centre since the revamp was completed.

Whistles has signed a five-year deal on a 990 sq ft space, Lacoste has signed for a 1,700 sq ft space on a 10-year lease while Skopes (which recently opened a new concept store in Westfield London) has taken a 2,300 sq ft store on a 10-year lease. Outdoor sports brand The North Face is up-sizing to a 2,600 sq ft unit on a 10-year lease.

The centre's co-owner British land said that analysis of Hitwise data showed that visits to brands' websites had increased by 53% following their store openings at Meadowhall, which showed the value of bricks and mortar stores in driving brand awareness, customer service and online orders. The centre handles an average of 17,000 click-and-collect parcels every week.

“High-quality, well located retail space plays a crucial role in omni-channel retail, evident by the relationship between online traffic and opening a new store at Meadowhall. New brands, our events programme and the refurbishment have all ensured shoppers continue to visit and enjoy Meadowhall,” said British Land head of national leasing Ben Grose.
