Global luxury fashion retailer, MATCHESFASHION has announced plans to open a new office in Bristol, creating 70 technology jobs.

According to Business Live, the new office in Bristol will launch later this year.

MATCHESFASHION currently has three bricks-and-mortar stores in London but 95 percent of its sales are currently online. This has helped the luxury market place resist the retail downturn and enhance revenues.

In addition, the luxury fashion retailer will be welcoming its new CEO, Ajay Kavan, next month. Kavan was the former Vice President Officer of international special projects at Amazon.

Kavan will be replacing Ulric Jerome who left Matchesfashion.com in August 2019 having been with the business for six years, four of which as CEO.

Dan Knight, Chief Technology Officer at MATCHESFASHION, said: “The speed of our development in Bristol is completely dependent on how quickly we can recruit the technology roles we need. Recruitment and interviews have already started and, by summer, we should have an initial team of 10 in place, from which we will build the hub."

We chose Bristol because of its rapidly growing technology community, world-class centres of education and great quality of life. Our new team here will be pivotal to future development.”

MATCHESFASHION began life as a single store in Wimbledon 30 years ago and grew to become a global force in luxury fashion with stores in upscale London neighbourhoods, a global website and an interactive personal shopping and event space at 5 Carlos Place in Mayfair. Its founders Tom and Ruth Chapman, who sold the business to APAX at the end of 2017 for a reported £800m, were named OBEs in the New Year’s Honours List.
