Matchesfashion.com CEO Ulric Jerome has departed the multi-channel luxury fashion retailer after six years.

Jerome joined the business in 2013 as chief operating officer and took up the role of CEO two years later as founders Tom and Ruth Chapman became chairpeople.

A replacement for Jerome is expected to be announced in due course and in the meantime his role will be covered by chief financial officer Fiona Greiner and chief operating officer Tom Athron.

Gabriele Cipparrone, Group Board Member, commented: “On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Ulric for his stewardship of Matchesfashion.com since 2015. He has been instrumental in building the company into the global, digital, and inspiring organisation that it is today. The team will continue to build on this strong foundation to drive further profitable growth.”

Jerome, a tech entrepreneur who founded French electricals and general merchandise online retailer Pixmania, oversaw a number of innovations at Matchesfashion.com during his tenure including 90-minute deliveries within London and the establishment of a tech hub in East London, as well as its Mayfair-based experiential townhouse 5 Carlos Place.

He was also at the helm when a majority stake in the business was sold to Apax Partners in an £800 million deal in 2017.

The news comes as Matchesfashion.com revealed it had achieved another strong year in 2018 with new customer growth driving a 27% year-on-year increase in revenues to £372m (FY17: £293m).

Revenue from the top 5% of customers increased 40% driven by the launch of 5 Carlos Place, which combines a new retail experience with a cultural event programme and creative broadcasting hub.
