MATCHESFASHION appoints Frasers luxury head as its new chief commercial officer

MATCHESFASHION has appointed Carl Tallents as Chief Commercial Officer; he will be joining the luxury retailer next month from Frasers Group, where he has been group head of luxury brands.

Tallents brings with him 18 years of experience in senior roles across sales, buying and merchandising and prior to his most recent role at Frasers Group he was Head of Brand at Frasers-owned luxury retailer Flannels.

His is the second senior appointment to be made by new MATCHESFASHION CEO Nick Beighton, the former ASOS CEO who joined the business in July.

Shortly after his appointment Beighton named Stuart Hill as Chief Operating Officer; while Hill joined from Farfetch, he and Beighton had previously worked together at ASOS.

Commenting on the latest appointment, Beighton said: “I am incredibly excited to welcome Carl to the team and look forward to working together. Carl is a fantastic addition to our executive leadership team. We remain focused on our ambition to be the luxury destination for customers in the world. Carl brings a depth of experience and leadership that will be invaluable as we enter our next phase of growth.”

MATCHESFASHION was founded by Tom and Ruth Chapman as a single store in Wimbledon 30 years ago. It has since gone on to become a global destination for luxury fashion housing some 600 brands on its websites. It has retained stores in Wimbledon and other upscale London neighbourhoods, as well as a town house in Mayfair which act as a retail experience, event space and broadcasting hub. The business has been owned by Apax Partners since 2017.
