MATCHES, the global luxury fashion destination, has appointed Andrea Trocino as Chief Product & Technology Officer, in a move that reunites him with his former boss at ASOS, Nick Beighton.

Trocino is an e-commerce product and technology leader with 20 years of experience and while he was at ASOS (from 2013 to 2021) developed its first mobile website and native apps, growing its user base from 0 to 30m users. From 2018, he was appointed Chief Product Officer at ASOS and mobile revenue became 80% of the business’ revenue – from 0 to £3bn in 10 years.

His career has also taken in stints with YOOX and as an adviser to start-up and scale-up businesses.

At MATCHES, he will be working to rebuild the retailer's customer experience, widening the audience including digital marketing, acquisition, retention and engagement.

Trocino is one of a raft of senior hires made by MATCHES CEO Nick Beighton, the former ASOS CEO who joined Matches in August 2022. Beighton has hired a number of his former ASOS colleagues, including most recently former ASOS Global Brand Creative Director John Mooney, who joined Matches as Executive Creative Director director in February.

Last year Beighton, who was at ASOS from 2009 to 2021, appointed former Farfetch SVP Logistics, Stuart Hill, as Chief Operating Officer; the pair had also previously worked together at ASOS. Another significant recent hire was Carl Tallents who joined MATCHES from Frasers Group as Chief Commercial Officer last autumn.

Of his latest hire Beighton said: “I am delighted to welcome Andrea to the team and look forward to working together. Andrea is a fantastic addition to our executive leadership team and his expertise in building customer facing digital retail and websites is unrivaled. We remain focused on our ambition to be THE luxury destination for customers in the world. Andrea brings a depth of experience and leadership that will be invaluable as we enter our next phase of growth."

Trocino added: “I am thrilled to be joining MATCHES and working closely with the team. To be working alongside Nick to deliver the next phase of MATCHES’ technology and be the true market leader in modern luxury fashion globally is genuinely exciting.”

MATCHES operates a global online platform as well as several stores in London including its 5 Carlos Place, Mayfair Townhouse (pictured above), which provides personal shopping and unique brand experiences. The business is majority owned by private equity business Apax Partners.
