Matalan launches Christmas 2020 TV advert

Matalan has launched its Christmas 2020 TV advertising campaign, humorously focusing on the small challenges Christmas can bring to any family.

The TV features some of the festive activities and challenges millions look forward to each year; from picking the Christmas tree and struggling to get it in the car, losing the end of the Sellotape, to a virtual family gathering - something which has formed such a key part of celebrations during 2020.

The ad is part of its "Real Life Ready" campaign, which was launched in March 2020, using real Matalan customers to star in the advert instead of a celebrity line up.

Created by McCann Manchester, the Christmas campaign will run up to 25 December online, across social channels, print and press.

Steve Johnson, Executive Chairman at Matalan, commented: “Christmas this year will be like no other Christmas we have experienced in our lives, but here at Matalan, we celebrate real people, real lives and the real challenges that come with life. We wanted our Christmas 2020 TV ad to represent these unprecedented times, whilst injecting that much needed British humour that has helped carry us through this year.

The 30 second advert launched on the Friday 13 November, with the full 60 second advert airing during last night's I’m A Celebrity launch show.
