Marvel continues partnership with The Prince’s Trust to support aspiring designers

Marvel has entered the second phase of a three-year partnership with the youth-centric charity The Prince’s Trust, providing mentorship and opportunities to aspiring product designers.

The charity, which is aimed at aiding young people of various backgrounds to break into the world of fashion and product design, has joined forces with Disney-owned Marvel (acquired in 2009).

Following the success of the partnership’s first year, the second year proposes the ‘Get Started in Product Design with Marvel’ mentorship scheme for those between the ages of 18 and 30 who wish to pursue a career in the design industry.

Will Poulter, who plays the protagonist Adam Warlock in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, hosted a Q&A with this year’s 12 designers about their creations that will be included in a clothing collection. Each ensemble was inspired by the film and will be available for purchase at shopDisney’s UK site from Spring/Summer 2023.

The actor commented: “It was so special to meet the young people taking part in the second Get Started in Product Design course delivered by The Prince’s Trust and Marvel. I witnessed first-hand the creativity and inspiration behind each design, as well as how important it was to make a positive influence through their products and storytelling. I’m excited by the prospect that in being a part of this programme, these young people may have been inspired to pursue careers in the creative industries and improve their skills. I eagerly await the products they have designed!"

Disney is committed to donating £100,000 per annum (£300,00 in total) to the non-profit initiative with The Prince’s Trust. This is part of the company's social purpose, which strives to provide opportunities to young people.

Ben Marson, Director of Partnerships at The Prince's Trust added: “It has been a difficult year for young people, with rising unemployment and disruption to training and education opportunities having a devastating impact on their lives... that is why we are so pleased to be working alongside Marvel on this new programme, which we know will offer our young people the invaluable hands-on learning and experience they need to pave the way for a career in product design."
