London-based design duo Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida, Marques' Almeida, will be showing their ready-to-wear collection in Paris for the SS19 season.

The duo are graduates of Central Saint Martins, where their design partnership was forged, and went on to cut their teeth at Vivienne Westwood and Preen before launching their own label in 2011.

They first showed in London via Lulu Kennedy's emerging talent platform Fashion East and they were admitted onto the British Fashion Council's Topshop-sponsored NEWGEN scheme for five seasons.

In 2014 they won the Emerging Womenswear Designer at the British Fashion Awards (now The Fashion Awards) and in 2015 landed the prestigious LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers. The showed their first independent, on-schedule catwalk show in London in 2016.

The brand is know for its unconventional shows and often uses friends and acquaintances in its campaigns and on its catwalks, as opposed to professional models. In their early collections the pair pioneered raw-edged denim, a look that went mainstream and prevails many seasons later.

While they will be missed from the London schedule, the British capital has some high profile new entrants to its programme this year with Alexa Chung showing on-schedule for the first time and Victoria Beckham bringing her mainline to London for the first time to mark its tenth anniversary.
