Staff are already on-site to ensure new safety measures and social distancing procedures are in place ahead of re-opening. New measures include hand sanitising stations, floor markings, perspex screens at tills and limits on customer numbers in-store.

Richard Fox, head of outlets at M&S said: Outlet stores are an important way we manage our stock and the products available are popular with customers. Throughout this period M&S Outlets have been shut, but the teams are now back in store and making sure we’re ready to serve from Monday. From managing the flow of customers into the store to perspex screens at till points, customers will find the robust measures from our Foodhalls in place at our Outlets to keep all our customers & colleagues healthy & well.”

M&S has been operating its food halls during lockdown but has previously announced that it will open the majority of its clothing stores and departments on 15 June. The retailer has been running a major Rainbow Sale online to clear as much Spring/Summer stock as possible and has cut back on orders in a bid to manage stock. It has also acquired new warehousing space and will be "hibernating" some stock until next Spring.
