Mark your calendars: TALA confirms opening date for first physical store
Last month, TALA revealed it had plans in the works to bring its cult-favourite activewear and leisurewear to brick-and-mortar retail for the first time. Spoiler alert: the British brand has today confirmed it's opening up shop on London's famous Carnaby Street on 24 May at 1 pm.
Founded in 2019 by influencer Grace Beverley, TALA's mission is to create "sustainable and high-performance activewear, without the hefty price tag".
The digitally native brand's 2,000 sq ft flagship store will be located on 3-4 Carnaby Street. Visitors eager for a first look are encouraged to join the virtual queue with details to be released via TALA’s site.
Marking a major milestone in the brand’s significant growth, for the first time ever, customers will be able to shop the complete TALA collection under one roof.
Rather than the store being just "another place to shop", the brand wants it to feel like a "clubhouse" for its community. In new store invites customers to "actually feel the difference in quality between a TALA black legging & a fast fashion dupe". The brand will also host in-person events for its community.
Founder Grace Beverley said: "We’ve always had a deep connection with our community, not just through the pieces they wear but through the conversations we have across socials, the content we create and the values we share. I’m so excited for our customers to finally be able to step into the world of TALA. The store has been years in the making. It’s surreal and seriously exciting to see it become a reality."
On opening weekend, visitors can expect a live DJ, interactive photobooth, giveaways, treats and special guests. It will also be the first opportunity to shop TALA’s new Summer Active collection, landing exclusively on Carnaby Street a week ahead of its digital launch.
What's more, customers can get their hands on limited-edition Carnaby Street products, including the brand’s signature sell-out oversized hoodies, which will be available exclusively at the Carnaby Street store.
Morgan Fowles, CEO at TALA, added: "Immersing our customers in the brand has always been a key element in the decision for us to transform from a leading e-commerce brand to a prominent player in the physical retail landscape. If we were going to open a store, it had to feel distinctly TALA, from the look and feel to the experience itself.
"Our flagship is more than just a shopping destination. It’s a strategic extension of our brand and a way to engage with our community in a more meaningful, in-person way. Consumer shopping habits are constantly evolving, but our customers have made it clear that physical retail remains a powerful channel for connection. We’re delighted to mark this next chapter for TALA with a space that genuinely reflects our brand and ethos."
The store opening is just the latest in a series of developments for the growing brand. Following a successful £5 million funding round with investors including Pembroke VCT, Venrex, and Active Partners, TALA is ramping up its expansion plans.
Last month, TALA launched a four-week pop-up at Anthropologie's King’s Road Gallery as it set out to expand its physical store presence. The pop-up, which runs for four weeks until 8 May, marks the first time TALA’s activewear is available to shop in person in Chelsea.
