Marella to launch new AW25 capsule collection co-designed by supermodel Stella Maxwell
Contemporary womenswear brand Marella is launching a new capsule collection for AW25 co-designed by supermodel Stella Maxwell.
Available on the Marella website from 15 September and in selected stores from 18 September, the exclusive Stella Maxwell x Marella collection "tells the story of a modern, dynamic femininity that reinterprets glamour with a contemporary twist".
The collection, which will be presented at an exclusive event in London on 17 September – on the eve of the start of London Fashion Week (18-22 September) - is "dedicated to the blazer as the hero item", reimagined alongside new garments and accessories, including a new ‘it bag’.
Maxwell, who has been the face of campaigns for brands including Moschino, Versace and Alexander McQueen, and was part of the iconic Victoria’s Secret Angels squad, said: "It’s been an incredible experience and so much fun working with the team at Marella. “They’ve been so open to all my ideas. I hope you love it as much as I loved co-designing it."
With a focus on tailoring, one of the blazers in the new collection features sculpted lapels inspired by tuxedos and a double-breasted design, deconstructed and relaxed "to give an immediate impression of a formal yet effortless power suit".
For evening looks and special occasions, there’s a cropped blazer with broad shoulders and corsetry-inspired details, and there’s also an innovative ‘body blazer’ - a single-breasted jacket deconstructed and missing the back section, "sensually exposing the back".
Other key pieces include a bomber jacket, available in dark denim or soft black leather, both featuring oversized utility-inspired front pockets, as well as a leather trench coat and a figure-hugging pencil skirt.
Maxwell added: "I think styling the pieces is really easy because they’re so versatile. You have the full set suits that are beautiful on their own - you can wear them for a night out or even just to grab a coffee in the morning. And then there are other pieces you can mix with jeans or more casual items if you want to dress them down."
Completing the look is the ‘Stella The Star’ bag, made of shiny leather with a crackle finish that enhances its ruched shape and gold tone hardware. It’s available in two sizes - a maxi shopper to wear over the shoulder, and a small version to carry by hand or wear crossbody.
The first Marella collection was released in Reggio Emilia in 1971, initially conceived to offer a premium product at a more accessible price. The brand enjoyed huge success throughout the 1980s and began an independent journey within the Max Mara Group, eventually becoming a separate company in January 1988.
Since 1 January 2023, it has been part of Dedimax, a subsidiary of the Max Mara Fashion Group focused on the contemporary sector.
Prices for the new Stella Maxwell x Marella collection range from £195-£760.
