Mango’s UK retail rollout gathers pace with Angel Central opening
Mango has just opened a new 3,200 sq ft store on the ground floor of Angel Central shopping centre in Islington, north London, exclusively stocking its womenswear lines.
It marks the first opening since it was reported earlier this month that Mango plans to open 20 UK stores this year, with a focus on London, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Mango joins anchor tenants Uniqlo and H&M at Angel Central, as well as the likes of Office, Rituals and recent arrivals KIKO Milano, the Italian cosmetics brand, and lifestyle retailer Oliver Bonas.
The new Angel Central space delivers Mango’s ‘New Med’ retail concept “aimed to reflect the spirit and freshness” of the brand, which is strongly influenced by Mediterranean culture and lifestyle.
Sustainability and “architectural integration” are key to the new design, featuring elements such as eco-efficient lighting and heating.
Ciara Daffy, Asset Manager at CBRE Investment Management, property managers of Angel Central, said: “Mango brings a seamless omnichannel experience to the community of Islington and delivers a quality offer, enhancing the retail mix alongside an array of complementary brands.
“As we continue to witness strong performance at the centre, Mango will only add to this momentum and we are delighted to add yet another firm favourite to our tenant portfolio.”
At the close of the 2023 financial year, Mango had 60 stores in the UK, including company stores, franchises and concessions.
In March, it was revealed that Mango closed 2023 with historic results, reaching a turnover of over £2.56 billion (€3 billion) for the first time.
