Pioneering traceability and transparency, Mango has become the first major fashion retailer in Spain to publish a list of its tier 3 factories.

The brand published an inaugural list of its Tier 1 suppliers in 2020, becoming the first major company in the Spanish fashion sector to do this. It then updated the list and added Tier 2 factories in December 2021.

The release of information is part of the company’s commitment to its new sustainability strategy, called Sustainable Vision 2030, which promotes value chain transparency. The initiative ensures the auditing of its suppliers and that appropriate working conditions are being fulfilled for the workers in the factories the company works with globally.

At the end of 2022, Mango had 2,400 factories throughout the world that were considered tier 1, 2, and 3. Turkey has the most factories working for Mango (663), followed by China (651) and India (214). Spain and Italy follow with 169 and 150 factories. In total, Mango produces its garments in 33 countries around the world.

Mango’s Sustainable Vision 2030 also strives to portray the company’s commitment to people. In the coming years, the retailer will commence social action projects with leading global organisations including the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, Médicins Sans Frontières (MSF), the Spanish Red Cross, Educo, and Save The Children.

In addition, the company will implement numerous training projects focused on providing women and children with access to education in countries such as Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. In other regions such as Europe and the United States, Mango will collaborate with world-leading universities to promote the insertion of young people in the job market.

Toni Ruiz, CEO of Mango, commented: "The new sustainability strategy is not merely a goal to be fulfilled, but a cross-departmental core value of our company strategy and business model that influences our decision making and the promotion of projects and actions, so that we can carry out our activities with the lowest environmental and social impact possible."
