Mango appoints global retail chief as UK expansion reaches Chester
Spanish fashion group Mango has appointed Katarzyna Niemirowicz Majtas as Chief Retail Officer amid plans to open 15 UK stores in 2026. The news follows Mango opening its second Chester location as part of its accelerating UK expansion plans.
Niemirowicz Matjas joins Mango’s leadership team with responsibility for the expansion and performance of more than 2,960 points of sale worldwide.
She joined the company earlier in 2026 as International Retail Director for Northern Europe, bringing more than 20 years’ experience in international retail and commercial leadership.
Her promotion coincides with Mango opening a 6,200 sq ft store at Eastgate Square in Chester, marking the retailer’s second location in the area.

New retail chief to oversee global network
In her new role, Niemirowicz Majtas will lead Mango’s global retail strategy, support growth across its international markets and work to improve the performance of its store network.
Posting on LinkedIn, Mango Chairman and CEO Toni Ruiz said Niemirowicz Majtas had demonstrated “exceptional vision and rigour” since joining the business. "Her in-depth experience and knowledge of the sector are of great value to our company. I am convinced that her leadership will be a source of inspiration for us all and a key factor in accelerating the goals of our 4Es Strategic Plan."
The 4Es strategy sets out a target of reaching €4 billion in annual turnover and opening 500 stores globally by the end of 2026. Mango reported turnover of €3.8 billion for 2025, following 13% year-on-year growth.
Mango increased first-half turnover by 7.2% to €1.852 billion (£1.61 billion), with growth reaching 10.7% at constant exchange rates as it continued to expand its UK store network. During the period, it opened 127 stores and renovated 37, ending June with a presence in more than 120 markets. International operations generated 77% of turnover, while online sales represented 32%.

Chester store adds Woman and Man collections
At Eastgate Square, Mango offers its Woman and Man collections, spanning clothing, footwear and accessories. A team of 500 at the retailer’s Barcelona atelier designs the products.
The interior follows Mango’s New Med concept, combining sustainable materials, natural textures and warm tones.
“Our new Woman and Man store in Chester is a confident step forward for MANGO, building on the strong progress we have made over the last year to broaden the appeal of MANGO to even more customers across the UK,” said Fiona Cullen, International Regional Director for the UK and Ireland at Mango.
The Chester opening forms part of Mango’s plan to add 15 UK stores in 2026. This year’s programme includes Cheltenham, Chester, Leeds and Guildford, alongside further expansion in London.
Stores on Kensington High Street, King’s Road and One New Change in May have already opened, while an additional Wandsworth location is planned.
Mango entered the UK in 1998 and had more than 100 points of sale nationwide at the end of 2025, spanning standalone stores and concessions. The UK ranks among its 10 largest markets by revenue, with turnover growing by close to 20% last year.
Mango also expanded its refreshed loyalty programme this year, ‘Mango Style Club’, to the UK and Ireland this year, following its launch in Spain and France in 2025.
Designed to offer customers a more personalised experience, the programme features three tiers of loyalty - ‘Style Insider’, ‘Style Curator’ and ‘Style Icon’ - creating a rewarding pathway for customers to get closer to the brand and “feel value from being part of the Mango community”.
