LVMH puts Pink Shirtmaker up for sale

Luxury fashion giant LVMH has reportedly put its Pink Shirtmaker (formerly Thomas Pink) business up for sale, as demand for formalwear continues to fall amid the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent work-from-home phenomenon.

Pink Shirtmaker shops – including branches at Heathrow’s Terminal 2 and 5 and its flagship Jermyn Street store, which reopened when lockdown was lifted in June but closed again several weeks later – have been shut, as have its website and social media channels, according to the Evening Standard.

Thomas Pink was rebranded Pink Shirtmaker by LVMH in 2018 in a bid to reposition it to a more upmarket level.

Thomas Pink Limited was established in London in 1984 by three Irish brothers – James, Peter and John Mullen. It’s been part of LVMH since 1999.

The Evening Standard says it “understands potential purchasers have been approached” to view the company’s financial details as its owner seeks bidders for the brand.

LVMH, which is home to major luxury labels, such as Louis Vuitton, Dior and Givenchy, has yet to confirm the sale plans.
