LVMH, the French luxury conglomerate, is to convert is perfume manufacturing facilities to make hand sanitiser instead to help stem the spread of Coronavirus, COVID-19.
The Paris-based group, whose perfume brands include Dior, Loewe and Guerlain, has responded to a nationwide shortage in France, Reuters has reported.
It will produce the sanitiser and distribute it for free to hospitals and healthcare establishments. France is currently on “lock-down” with only essential services open.
“LVMH will use the production lines of its perfume and cosmetic brands […] to produce large quantities of hydroalcoholic gels from Monday,” LVMH said in a statement. “These gels will be delivered free of charge to the health authorities.”
