Lucy & Yak's limited collection highlights 'urgent need' to protect our seas

If you’re familiar with Lucy & Yak, you’ll already know that the brand’s ethos is all about being socially and environmentally conscious. With this in mind, it has launched a limited-edition collection that "celebrates the beauty and magic of our seas and waterways while highlighting the urgent need to protect them".

All of the profits from the collection, dubbed ‘Turning The Tide’, will go to support Surfers Against Sewage.

Founded 35 years ago in response to the state of our coastlines, the charity is made up of water lovers who protect the ocean and all it makes possible. It tackles environmental issues from sewage pollution and plastic pollution to ocean recovery and the climate crisis.

Lucy & Yak’s ‘Turning The Tide’ collection will feature dungarees and trousers made from organic materials, each featuring distinctive prints created by artist Tan Zi Xi.

Never one to stand still, Zi Xi constantly seeks new ways to express herself, pushing beyond the decorative into the narrative. She often tackles subjects that nod to societal issues. This time, her artistry "celebrates the beauty and magic of our seas and waterways while highlighting the urgent need to protect them".

This isn't the retailer's first socially conscious rodeo. In October 2023, Lucy & Yak collaborated with homeless help charity Shelter on a pop-up store at Coal Drops Yard in London’s King’s Cross, which ran from 1-3 November.

‘The Comfort Store’ featured a donation of Lucy & Yak’s "comfiest items", including dungarees, jumpsuits, fleeces and blankets - made from sustainable fabrics - alongside Shelter’s curated pieces.

In January 2024, it also teamed up with CoppaFeel! to normalise talking about breasts and chests in all their forms with the creation of an eight-piece apparel collection. The collection featured the 'Baring All' print - a colour-fuelled photography print of 10 different beautiful chests.

Turning The Tide is available online and in Lucy & Yak stores.
