Lucy & Yak makes ‘PreLoved’ scheme more accessible with online launch
Conscious clothing brand Lucy & Yak has launched its ‘PreLoved’ scheme online to make it even more accessible for customers to "return, recirculate and recycle their well loved Yaks".
The move is a further extension of the brand’s in-store Re:Yak workshops that see customers exchanging old products for vouchers to spend either online or in one of Lucy & Yak’s 11 UK stores – including in Bristol, Norwich, Nottingham, Cambridge, Canterbury, Manchester, Cardiff, Exeter and its flagship in Brighton, as well as its first outlet in Castleford, Yorkshire.
Through the new online service, items will either be resold or upcycled and repaired by Lucy & Yak’s in-house seamstress at the Re:Yak studio based at the brand's distribution centre in Barnsley.
Once mended, the items will be available for purchase through Lucy & Yak’s "network of little pink shops", with limited one off items, such as hand embroidered pieces from the Re:Yak Studio, going to The Outlet in Castleford.
Lucy Greenwood, co-founder of Lucy & Yak, said: "When me and Chris first launched Lucy & Yak in 2017, we realised that, if we wanted to be truly circular, we had a responsibility for the lifecycle of anything we created, even after the customer has ownership of the piece.
"In 2023 we launched our first buyback scheme in our shops, which was a huge success and instantly highlighted the demand for an online presence. Now, rebranded as PreLoved, this has been a real passion project and I can’t wait to see it expand into further regions in the future."
Last week it was revealed that Lucy & Yak will be returning to London for its fifth (Im) Perfect Yaks Sale event, to be held at Copeland Park in Peckham over four days from 6-9 March 2025, again offering an exclusive selection of "perfectly imperfect Yaks".
