Louise Trotter steps down as Lacoste Creative Director

06 January 2023

Louise Trotter, who joined Lacoste in 2018, has stepped down from her role as Creative Director after a four-year stint at the French brand.

Trotter made her debut for the fashion label in February 2019 after leaving her role as Creative Director at Joseph. She became the woman to helm the heritage brand, succeeding Felipe Oliviera Baptista.

Trotter was the mastermind behind the brand’s yearly runway presentations and the menswear and womenswear collections. Not only did she tap into archival DNA within her work, but she also brought a fresh perspective to the brand and became renowned for her consistency.

Louise Trotter's debut collection for Lacoste

Louise Trotter shared the news on Instagram, writing: “To all those who have supported me on this brilliant journey: the team at Troyes; Lacoste Archive; Lacoste teams; my collaborators; friends, and loyal fans of the house I send my heartfelt thanks.

“I feel the most honoured to have served the legacy of René Lacoste, whose sporting values I will carry with me. Without style, playing and winning is not enough.”

Her final collection was showcased to an intimate audience in Paris in 2022, which will go on sale later this year as part of Lacoste’s Spring/Summer 2023 range.

Lacoste's president Thierry Guibert thanked the designer for her "creativity and commitment and for her contribution to the brand’s legacy."
