Louis Vuitton dedicates store windows to Virgil Abloh
Louis Vuitton has dedicated its window displays at stores across the globe to its former artistic director, the late Virgil Abloh.
The French luxury brand displayed large panels of smudged, vibrant colours and poignant quotes on the windows of its boutiques from New York and London to Sydney and Singapore, paying tribute to Abloh, who died of cancer at age 41.
The bright colours on display are a nod to his debut collection in 2019, a Wizard of Oz-themed "Virgil’s Sky", while the slogan "Virgil was here" was stencilled above Abloh's words of inspiration.
The featured quotes include: "Let your imagination run riot," "Everything I do is for the 17-year-old version of myself," and "I’m a dreamer. I think about how long my ideas can impact or bring a different voice to the rest of the world."
Abloh was honoured in his Chicago hometown with a memorial service at the Museum Of Contemporary Art on Monday, with Kanye West and Tyler, the Creator, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, and Lauryn Hill among those in attendance.
