Lorraine Candy to head up luxury content and Style for The Sunday Times

The Sunday Times has appointed Elle UK editor in chief Lorraine Candy to the position of director of luxury content and editor in chief of Style magazine.

Candy spearheaded Elle's 360-degree approach to reporting online and in print during her 12 years at the Hearst-owned magazine and has been described as "a Titan of the fashion industry" by News UK CEO Rebekah Brooks. Prior to Elle, Candy edited its stable-mate Cosmopolitan.

"[Lorraine] is an established innovator and a ‘must’ on anyone’s ‘who to know’ list. Throughout her established career, she has developed strong relationships with major players across technology, advertising, fashion and entertainment and I’ve no doubt she will have a huge impact with our customers and readers alike, especially in delivering new digital propositions across the title," Brooks said.

The luxury content director for The Sunday Times is a newly created role and is it understood that Jackie Annesley, who oversaw Style, is stepping down and leaving the business.

"The Sunday Times is ‘the’ Sunday paper and I’m excited to be taking this senior role at the title as it leads the way in print and digital innovation," said Candy of her appointment. "The opportunities to grow its reach and reputation further, in both print and digital are endless. I look forward to working with the talented teams across the title to ensure we take full advantage of its lucrative data to deliver for our hugely engaged audiences and advertisers."

Candy's is the second high-profile fashion appointment made by News UK in recent weeks. In September, it appointed Mr Porter's brand and content Jeremy Langmead as editor in chief of the newly relaunched quarterly publication Luxx.  Langmead will hold the position alongside his existing role at luxury men's etailer Mr Porter, which is part of the Yoox Net-a-Porter Group.
