London’s The O2 has suffered severe damage after roof panels were blown off by Storm Eunice, tearing parts of the structure and exposing areas of the Icon Outlet.

The South East London landmark faced winds of over 60mph, with the Met Office warning of 'flying debris resulting in danger to life', 'roofs blown off' and power lines down. The shopping, dining and entertainment venue has been evacuated over safety concerns.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan said in a statement this morning: "Please stay at home, do not take risks and do not travel unless absolutely essential."

6 of the venues roof panels has been torn by 1pm, with winds continuing to increase in speed.

In a statement, The O2 said: “Due to today’s adverse weather conditions, we can confirm that there has been some damage caused to the tent fabric in our roof at The O2. The affected areas have been cleared and The O2 will remain closed for the rest of the day. The safety of our visitors remains of paramount importance, and we will continue to assess the ongoing situation and act accordingly.”
