London Fashion Week SS22 highlights: Richard Malone x Mulberry
In London's Victoria & Albert museum, amidst Renaissance treasures the Raphael Cartoons, Richard Malone unveils his latest collection, exploring the tension between ‘good’ and ‘bad’ taste and the comfort we find in creativity.
For SS22, there was no moodboard; rather Malone was driven entirely by the way the process of design evolves. Sample toiles are lined and given new life as jackets, as exaggerated silhouettes and deconstructed cuts come to life on the body.
This collection also marks the launch of a new limited-edition collaboration with British luxury brand Mulberry. The partnership is the latest Mulberry Editions collection to launch during the brand’s 50th anniversary year.
Melding his own distinct design language with Mulberry’s heritage, Malone reinterprets the brand’s Bayswater and Darley bags. The bags are complemented by a line-up of small accessories.
Both Malone and Mulberry bring their sustainability expertise to the forefront of the collection with each piece being crafted using Eco Scotchgrain and Gold standard leather.
Richard Malone commented: "People have experienced so much grief and change this year; the collection couldn’t not confront it. For designers and artists, that’s how you process something. What exists at the end of it, only you really know what you went through to get there. It then has a life of its own."
The capsule is available to purchase through Mulberry online and instore from today.
