London Fashion Week SS22 highlights: Rejina Pyo

Lauretta Roberts
19 September 2021

Rejina Pyo riffed on "fragments of memories and dreams" for SS22 with a collection that featured transparent layers, vivid colours fading in and out and a series of surreal motifs and prints inspired by Pyo's travels to New York and Seoul.

Pyo presented a highly covetable collection of relaxed short suits, wrap skirts and tops, elegant tailoring and chic dresses with softly sculpted shoulders along with delicately draped dresses and shirts in sheer fuschia and sunset orange silk chiffon alongside clingy styles in an acid green lace.

As ever sustainable credentials were on display, with two-toned orange and pink swimwear made from Italian recycled nylon and organic Italian denim pieces in light and dark washes, finished with playful fray and cut out details.

Lightweight knitwear came in the form of organic cotton and linen mix and match dual-yarn tops and bottoms, reversible checkered vests and pieces made with a unique intarsia technique. The prints also require closer inspection with garden chairs and other everyday objects along with a playful mouse (used to great effect on a chunky summer knit) providing talking points.

But this is a collection to be studied as much for the accessories as for the clothes, with square-toed flip flops, chunky rubber sole slides and a sleek two-strap platform sandal in the footwear line-up. New bags were shown in the form of the full sized and mini Simone featuring a twisted handle, the Fran roll down tote and a practical shoulder version of the Olivia box bag.

Bespoke, hand moulded "donut" bracelets, ear cuffs and pendants on black silk straps completed the strong summer looks.
