London Fashion Week SS22 highlights: Mark Fast

Social distancing and shapeless sweat pants are over and it's time for the youth to get their lives back. And Mark Fast has perfect post-pandemic streetwear and clubwear for them.

His co-ed show for SS22 majored on body-con, colour and fun. For women the collection was centred on a signature body-con, bandage-style dress held together with inter-locking chains. It came in a variety of Fast's signature neon shades offset by softer pastel options (as well as in body-suit versions of varying lengths). Pops of blue and forest green rounded off the palette.

The British designer first made his name with knits and these were evident throughout the collection for both men and women.

The 90s were a clear reference with the Fast revving things up with more heritage denim stylings, hand painted graffiti pieces (another of his signatures), and a new MF monogram reminiscent of "an after-party haze". Acid wash denim was another nod to the 90s and yes, there were sweats, but lockdown-lazing-around-the-house they were not. For men track pants were evident as part of a modern take on the shell suit, worn over a suit jacket, bright-shirt and accessorised with chunky chains, while a women's high-sheen tracksuit was paired with knee-high white boots for a luxe look.

The Mark Fast brand has been experiencing strong growth of late, in particular in Asia, and with Henry Holland now focusing his design skills on interiors, Fast has a great opportunity to be the British designer of choice for youth-inspired elevated street and clubwear and it looks like he's grasping it with both hands.
