London Fashion Week schedule of familiar faces and new names finalised
London Fashion Week (LFW), which is running from 20-24 February, has today released its final schedule after announcing it secured a further £1 million in government funding.
LFW, presented by 1664 Blanc, focuses on “shaping the future of British fashion” while celebrating the capital city’s independent designers and businesses.
London Fashion Week is a day shorter this year, and the finalised schedule includes a host of new faces, including Ashish, Maison Sara Chraïbi and Maison Artc.
The week will kick off with Harris Reed on Thursday night, and cornerstones of the LFW line-up, including Burberry, Erdem, Simone Rocha and Richard Quinn will punctuate the following days.
There are also several designers choosing not to show in London, including JW Anderson, Nensi Dojaka, Knwls and Chopova Lowena. Many brands are opting for one show per year to ease cost pressures. Fashion shows now typically cost between £200,000-£300,000.
Just yesterday, The British Fashion Council (BFC), the driving force behind LFW, secured new funding from the UK Government to aid emerging talent amid a challenging time for the industry.
CEO Caroline Rush said the governmental department for Culture, Media and Sport has committed a further £1 million in funding for the coming year, on top of its existing support for the BFC Newgen programme.
BFC Newgen designers will be presented at 180 The Strand. Designers include Ancuta Sarca, Kazna Asker, Karoline Vitto, Lueder, Masha Popova, Paolo Carzana and Pauline Dujancourt.
The British Fashion Council said it "remains committed to fostering creativity, championing sustainability and supporting the growth of the British fashion industry on the international stage".
