London Fashion Week AW22 Highlights: Molly Goddard
Molly Goddard presented her AW22 collection on Saturday at London Fashion Week, inspired by London's Portobello and Camden market in the late 80's and 90's.
Describing the collection, Goddard commented: "Our mum’s best friend when we were younger was very central to the Portobello social scene then and the collection is somewhat based around her. I would describe her from what I can remember as a cross between Marilyn Monroe and Mick Jones — big bleached blonde hair with a flower in it, red lipstick, a 50s dress with an army jacket and trainers."
AW22 sees fishtail taffeta dresses styled with baggy men’s jumpers and trainers, with silhouettes dropping below the rear and dresses visible beneath. Feminine evening dresses are based on army surplus jackets and men’s overcoats featuring lace frill trims.
Tulle is key this season, sometimes contrasting with cotton lining or creating structure and fullness, using horizontal curved seams with uneven frills.
