London Fashion Week AW22 Highlights: Eudon Choi

21 February 2022

Eudon Choi channelled the aesthetic and messages of acclaimed Italian director Michelangelo Antonioni's first colour film, Red Desert, for his return to London Fashion Week where he showed his AW22 collection over the weekend.

The 1965 film tells the story of Giuliana, who, following a car crash, becomes increasingly isolated and ostracised by the industrial world in which she lives and who longs for an escape back to nature. With is collection, Choi sought to encourage us to reconnect and show a greater appreciation for the world in which we live.

Antonioni's celebrated film is know for its lack of narrative, instead relying on colour to do the storytelling. Choi took the same approach with a palette that veered from rusty red, ochre and khaki to bright pops of vibrant blue and pink.

Taking silhouettes inspired by the decade of Red Desert, Choi presented a coherent collection of classic wardrobe staples, including trouser suits, tailored separates and trench coats made from organic cottons, ethically sourced cashmere, eco-friendly viscose, recycled synthetic fibres and surplus fabrics.

A selection of sophisticated dresses (perfect for day to evening wear) and bag a debut bag collection, produced in partnership with LOUIS QUATORZE, rounded off the modern vision.
