Spanish luxury house Loewe has announced the release of a capsule collection with Japanese animation film studio, Studio Ghibli.

The limited-edition capsule collection includes bags, ready-to-wear and accessories celebrating Studio Ghibli’s 1988 film, My Neighbor Totoro. The collection features Ghibli-inspired details, including characters and artistic designs from the film.

The collection also features a campaign photographed by frequent Loewe collaborator Gray Sorrenti, some of which have been edited into a collage-style images.

“There is a natural longing for heartwarming feelings right now,” Loewe’s Fashion Director Jonathan Anderson explained to Dazed Magazine. “When I think of a movie that affords me that kind of solace, speaking just as directly to a child as it does to an adult, that movie is My Neighbor Totoro.”

He continued, adding that the collection “celebrates the poetry and immediacy of these characters’ iconography – qualities have made My Neighbor Totoro a true cultural landmark”.

The collection is due for release 8 January 2021.
