Lauren Laverne joins Scamp & Dude’s Super Scarf mission to support women
Scamp & Dude has announced broadcaster and author Lauren Laverne as the latest high-profile name to collaborate on its Super Scarf Mission, an initiative that donates a scarf to a woman starting chemotherapy for every one sold.
Following previous collaborations with notable figures such as model and philanthropist Sabrina Elba, Scamp & Dude founder Jo Tutchener Sharp has partnered with Laverne to design a new seasonal edition - a white and blue leopard print scarf, complete with a playful black pom-pom trim.
Each scarf sale triggers the donation of another to a woman beginning her cancer journey, which is an experience shared by over 60,000 women in the UK every year. Scamp & Dude’s mission is to ensure these women feel seen, supported, and empowered during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives.
Laverne said: "The Super Scarf project is such a beautiful idea. I went through cancer myself last year and I think that anything that can help women who are in that very isolating, very scary place feel a little bit happier, feel a little bit more themselves, is a very special thing."
"My design had to be leopard; I have been a fan since I was 16 and joined a band! I have a real thing for blue leopard. I just think there’s something extra cool about it, so I’m very glad that we could do this. Then just a simple little pom pom on the edge, just to give it a little bit of something. You could wear this to work, wear it to a festival, you could take it on holiday with you, keeping it in your bag and having an extra layer when you need it, it’s brilliant."
Jo Tutchener Sharp, Founder and CEO of Scamp & Dude, added: "I was thrilled that Lauren agreed to be part of our Super Scarf mission. I’ve known Lauren for a long time, so I know that she has a great heart, loves helping other people, and generally does good.
"This, teamed with the fact she went on her own cancer journey last year, meant this felt like a really authentic partnership. I also love Lauren’s style, so knew she’d choose a great design for her Super Scarf with a rock chick edge, which I love. I will definitely be taking this scarf to Glastonbury with me this year!"
Laverne joins a growing collective of women who have lent their creativity to the Super Scarf cause, including Giovanna Fletcher, Ellie Simmonds, Jade Parfitt, Sabrina Elba, Sophie McCartney, Louise Boyce and Sara Davies MBE. With the backing of Scamp & Dude’s loyal community, the initiative has now reached over 65,000 women with a tangible symbol of support and solidarity.
The Scamp & Dude x Lauren Laverne Super Scarf (£40) is available online and in stores now.
