Landsec launches "Made in" competition with six-month pop-up shop prizes

Shopping centre owner Landsec has just launched a competition to win free six-month pop up store leases – at the St David’s shopping centre in Cardiff, called "Made in Wales", at the Trinity Centre in Leeds, called "Made in Yorkshire", and at Bluewater in Kent, called "Made in Kent".

The initiative is designed to support local independent retail businesses and up-and-coming talent in all three areas. Applications are now being received through all three of the shopping centres’ websites and will be open until 10 August, 2020.

The winning brands – one for each centre - will be announced in September and given access to retail stores at the three locations from 1 October, 2020 until 31 March, 2021.

The brands will be able to transform each pop-up space and create a new and exciting retail offer to add to the strong line-up of existing stores at each centre, while also receiving full media and marketing support.

Speaking on behalf of the St David’s Partnership, Russell Loveland, senior portfolio director for St David’s joint-owners, Landsec, said: “We wanted to find a way to support local businesses and the ‘Made in Wales’ initiative provides brands with a chance to build and grow. The ‘Made in Wales’ competition is a chance for us to work with the local community and we look forward to seeing entries from many exciting retail brands.”

David Maddison, centre director of Trinity in Leeds, added: “Made in Yorkshire is a fantastic opportunity for us to give back to the local community who have supported us so much over the years.

“We have heard some amazing stories from local businesses who have demonstrated great creativity and entrepreneurialism during recent months and want to help them with their next step. We are proud to champion local businesses and look forward to welcoming new up and coming brands to the centre.”
