Landon Barker on his 'royal punk' inspired collection with Cheap Monday
H&M-owned Cheap Monday, known for its now archival skinny jeans, is having a renaissance since its relaunch in September. Fast forward to 2025, and who better for the punk brand to team up with than internet personality, singer and son of Blink-182's Travis Barker - Landon Barker?
Originally launched back in 2004, but discontinued in 2018, news broke in 2023 that Cheap Monday would return and join two other H&M brands, Weekday and Monki, "to become a youth destination".
That came to fruition in September 2024 with a denim collection available to purchase online and in Weekday stores. Nessa Barrett, who fronted the first comeback campaign, passed the baton to fellow Gen Z TikTok star Barker, who declared, "Yes, I’m a mess!" as he posed for the punky pictures.
The 'no bullshit' collection is a remix of his royal punk-distorted DNA, the glam and all the weirdness. Landon said: "I’ve been into DIY punk aesthetic since I was a kid – the raw energy. ‘I’m a Mess' comes from an old pin and I designed the graphic on my phone late one night, and seeing it come to life in the collection is crazy.
"Honestly, I grew up on Cheap Monday, the spray-on skinny jeans bleached to death. I wanted them to be as tight as possible. That DIY punk energy is what inspires me."
As for the looks on offer, think lighter cap embellishments on belts and hats, double-hooded jerseys and crystal-accented pieces. Each were designed to reflect Landon’s obsession for statement-making elements. It's all in the details, down the to "I’m a Mess" graphic designed by the punk boy himself that adorns hoodies and tees.
When asked what his favourite piece in the collection is, Barker said it was the double-hood hoodie. It has two hoods but still lightweight. And of course, it features the signature slogan.
Alice Shulman, Design Lead at Cheap Monday, added: "Landon inspired us early on, earning a spot on our mood board before the Cheap Monday revival began. His style is everything we stand for – unfiltered, multilayered, and cool. He doesn’t force it; he just owns it. That’s what Cheap Monday is all about."
The Landon Barker x Cheap Monday collection is launching on 20 March at weekday.com and selected Weekday stores.
