Premium French lifestyle brand Lacoste, which opened a brand new 970 sq ft store at 6 James Street in Covent Garden on 1 March, is to open another new store in Sheffield’s Meadowhall shopping centre in early May.

That will take Lacoste’s current UK retail portfolio to 15 standalone stores, with six based in London, as it continues with its UK retail expansion programme.

The new Covent Garden store features the brand’s menswear collection, as well as footwear and accessories. Store features include the "Le Club" concept, launched in London’s Westfield White City shopping centre in 2017, then globally.

It pays homage to the brand’s sporting heritage, in particularly its founder, RenéLacoste, who was a champion tennis player nicknamed "the Crocodile" because of how he dealt with his opponents. An eye-catching in store "polo shirt wall" provides an expansive home to the brand’s most iconic product.

Jamie Givens, the newly appointed UK CEO of Lacoste, said of the expansion: “Lacoste is an iconic global brand, however we recognise the importance of local relevancy and the importance the UK plays in its overall success.

“At a time when the consumer environment is rapidly changing and digital platforms are becoming more relevant, it really is a statement of our intention to recognise the importance of connecting with our consumers in a physical way through our stores.”
