Kurt Geiger CEO gives up his salary for a year as business supports NHS workers

Kurt Geiger CEO Neil Clifford has given up his salary for a year to help the business through the COVID-19 Coronavirus crisis, and the footwear retailer has also outlined initiatives to support NHS workers.

All 55 of Kurt Geiger's stores are on temporary shut-down but the retailer has said that once they re-open NHS workers will receive a 50% discount in all stores for a year. It has said the store closures, which took place at close of business on 21 March, were to protect the health and safety of its staff but also to give them a chance to help out in the local community if they wish to do so.

It is also operating a #smallactsofkindness campaign on social media. Each manager of its 55 stores will be gifting 55 critical NHS workers in their local hospital with £100 gift cards.

Kurt Geiger opened its first stores on London's Sloane Street and Bond Street in 1963. Now, as well as its standalone stores, it operates 170 concessions in department stores including Selfridges and Harrods. It has been owned by private equity house Cinven since 2015.
