Klarna reveals Sunak's socks and sliders remain on trend for Gen X

Leading global banking, payments and shopping service Klarna has revealed that Chancellor Rishi Sunak is one of many 41-45 year-olds spending on socks and sliders this October.

Pictured before the Goverment's Autumn Budget, Chancellor Sunak was spotted wearing a socks and sliders combo. He joins his Gen X peers, who have spent 16% more on sliders than the average UK shopper so far this month.

Klarna found that sales of sliders peaked in June 2021 but have continued to be a footwear favourite. Gen X men are driving this craze, spending 31% more per pair than their female peers.

Emily Thomas, Klarna UK Consumer PR Lead said: “From Corbyn’s tracksuits to Theresa May’s suit jackets, the UK has always had an interest in the style and wardrobes of its leading politicians. Rishi Sunak’s socks and sliders will no doubt strike a chord with many across the UK who seek comfort from this footwear combination. It is great to see Rishi is not alone when investing in this popular style.”

Klarna's CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski recently appeared on TheIndustry.fashion's In Detail podcast, which is available to listen to online and on various podcast streaming platforms.
