Global payments and shopping platform Klarna has announced it has reached half a million consumers in Ireland.

Since its launch with ‘Pay in 3’ in November 2021, Klarna has brought a number of product updates to Irish consumers including a new money management feature in the Klarna app, an express checkout function and ‘Pay Now’ that allows consumers to pay immediately and in full whenever Klarna is available.

Klarna also introduced its open banking business unit ‘Klarna Kosma’, which gives Irish fintech companies access to a network of 15,000 banks in 24 countries.

This Irish milestone for Klarna comes after the company hit 150 million consumers and 400,000 merchants globally this month.

Colin Creagh, Head of Business Development in Ireland at Klarna, said: "Irish consumers are keen digital adopters and now more than ever are looking for options that can give them greater control and exibility over how they want to shop and pay. 500,000 consumers now trust Klarna in Ireland and we will continue to disrupt the retail banking industry and grow our presence in the country."
