Klarna and ASOS support COVID-19 fight with Giveback Day

Klarna and ASOS have teamed up to support the global fight against COVID-19 with Giveback Day on 29 April.

For every transaction carried out on the online fashion giant's site tomorrow using Klarna's payment option £1, $1 or €1 will be donated to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

Money raised for the ICRC will go towards activities such as sanitation to prevent the spread of the disease, support for vital health infrastructure such as hospitals, and towards ensuring access to clean water for countless communities.

Klarna has not placed a limit on how much will be donated and has guaranteed to honour every Klarna transaction placed at ASOS in the relevant currency.

ASOS offers 85,000 product options across 800 brands, as well as its own labels including ASOS DESIGN, ASOS EDITION, ASOS 4505 and COLLUSION.

Klarna Commercial Vice President Luke Griffiths said: “These are challenging and worrying times for us all and we are incredibly proud to be supporting the ICRC alongside our friends at ASOS. The ICRC is carrying out essential work to improve protection and reduce the spread of COVID-19 and we are delighted to be supporting the efforts with our Giveback Day.

"We haven’t capped our pledge to ICRC and so, for each and every Klarna transaction placed at ASOS on 29 April, we will be donating £1, $1 or €1 to provide aid in already-exposed communities. We look forward to enabling our customers to directly support the international fight against the virus and demonstrate how all of us can contribute, wherever we are.”

ASOS brand experience director Eve Williams added: “At ASOS we want to do as much as we can to show our appreciation for the vital organisations that are helping during this worrying time. We are pleased to be able to extend our ASOS Supports campaign to this initiative with Klarna in supporting the ICRC.”

The Klarna payment option is available on ASOS's site in the following territories Germany, Finland, Norway, United Kingdom, United States, Sweden.

ASOS has already donated to the COVID-19 fight through its ASOS Supports initiative. It has created a limited edition "Heroes" sweatshirt and t-shirt with proceeds going to the NHS, and has also donated thousands of items including washable tote bags, hand creams and comfortable clothing, like joggers, t-shirts and hoodies to the NHS.
