Dior Homme has confirmed that British designer Kim Jones will take over as its artistic director and will present his first collection for the house at Paris Men's Fashion Week in June.

Jones, who stood down from his previous role of artistic director for menswear at LVMH stablemate Louis Vuitton in January, replaces Belgian designer Kris Van Assche, who headed up the brand for 11 years.

The appointment is the first big move for Pietro Beccari who took over as CEO at Dior last November. Beccari was previously chief of Fendi and replaced Sidney Toledano who stepped up to become chief of LVMH's fashion group.

“I am delighted to welcome Kim Jones at Dior Homme. He will benefit from the support of the teams and from the ‘savoir-faire’ of the Ateliers to create an elegant men’s wardrobe both classic and anchored in contemporary culture. I am confident that he will continue to further develop Dior Homme on a global scale,ˮ Beccari said.

Jones added that he was "deeply honoured" to take on the role. “The house of Dior [is] a symbol of the ultimate elegance. I would like to warmly thank [LVMH CEO} Bernard Arnault and Pietro Beccari for their trust in giving me this incredible opportunity. I am committed to create a modern and innovative male silhouette built upon the unique legacy of the House," he said.

Jones has a wide range of experience from luxury to streetwear and sportswear having previously held senior roles with brands such as Alexander McQueen, Mulberry, Hugo Boss, Dunhill, Topman and Umbro.  When his departure from Louis Vuitton was announced, there was some speculation that the Central Saint Martins graduate might join British brand Burberry, but that role went to Riccardo Tisci.

It is believe van Assche is taking up another creative role within the LVMH stable but thus far this has not been confirmed.
