LabTech today welcomed Sir Keir Starmer, Leader of the Labour Party and MP for Holborn and St Pancras, to meet the independent traders and businesses at Buck Street Market, the UK’s first dedicated market for the conscious consumer.

Buck Street Market, on Camden High Street, features a curated selection of over 80 eco-conscious food outlets and retail brands that will offer a range of sustainable and eco-friendly products specifically tailored to the evolving needs of the modern consumer.

Set across a unique arrangement of 88 recycled shipping containers, Buck Street Market will provide over 28 million annual visitors with a bespoke sustainable dining and entertainment experience unlike any other in the UK.

As part of its commitment to sustainable consumption, the market will abide by a ‘zero plastic on site’ policy and will compost food waste from F&B traders to generate energy that will be fed back into the power grid to produce electricity.

Yaron Shahar, Chief Executive Officer of LabTech, commented: "We are delighted to Welcome Keir Starmer to Buck Street Market, one of the most exciting assets in our expanding portfolio. Consumer habits are changing, and it is vital that we, as providers of retail space, play our part in facilitating sustainable consumption that is conscious of the impact we have on the environment.

"Buck Street Market is a prime example of the depth and quality of our portfolio in London and around the world."

Keir Starmer, MP for Holborn and St Pancras, added: "It was good to see the work that Buck Street Market is doing around sustainability and to have the opportunity to meet with traders to discuss the issues facing their businesses during these uncertain times.

"I know many businesses, in Camden and across the country are struggling right now, and many people are worried about their jobs. That’s why Labour has been relentlessly pressing the government to do more to support jobs and businesses affected by the pandemic."

Earlier this year, LabTech announced the signing of four new retailers for Buck Street Market.

The eco-friendly focused market sees sustainability-driven lifestyle retailer Londonworks, male grooming brand Sweyn Forkbeard, handmade babywear retailer Dress Up Baby and souvenirs traders To Home From London join over 80 other food and retail brands committed to sustainable practices.
